Our Mission

Our mission is to combat all forms of hunger and malnutrition locally and globally. We believe that no one should go hungry in a world with abundant resources.

What We Do

  • Each school year, Zero Hunger organizes two food drives in collaboration with the upper, middle, elementary, and primary school for the Frankfurt Tafel. We gather donations of canned food, such as corn and beans, along with rice, flour, and pasta.
  • May 28 is World Hunger Day. On that week, we host many fundraising events like the Boba Bar. We also host bake sales during the year. All raised funds are donated to the World Food Programme.
  • We raise awareness about the topic in our school community with free, interactive events and advocate for practices that reduce food waste.

Why It Matters

1/3 of food gets wasted, 11% of people are undernourished, and 9.1 million people starve to death every year. Hunger is a serious global issue, and a lot of people are affected.

Germany's hunger rate was 2.50% in 2018, with no change since 2014. 1.5 million people rely on Tafels (food banks) around Germany. There are 930 food banks, and the amount of people that rely on them is increasing.
